United Methodist Communications (UMCom) is excited to announce that the popular “Pastoring in the Digital Parish” podcast, hosted by the Rev. Ryan Dunn, is merging into the trusted and longstanding “MyCom Church Marketing” podcast.
The debut episode for the new host of the "MyCom" podcast will post July 16 and feature a panel of leaders to assist local churches and ministries in building a more attention-getting YouTube presence.
Dunn, UMCom’s minister of online engagement, will take the reins as host of this dynamic new version of the “MyCom Church Marketing” podcast, bringing together valuable insights and strategies for digital ministry and church marketing. The supercharged, monthly audio presentation will share learnings from savvy church marketers, pastors, leaders, teachers and coaches who offer expert advice.
The "MyCom" podcast teaches communities of faith how to effectively find their audience and share their story with the world by building an online presence for our ministries, engaging individuals in community and ushering our communities to success with in-person and digital efforts in making disciples for Christ.
“For many years, I’ve felt a strong pull to help the church explore ways we can make digital connections and build community online,” Dunn said. “I think this is a great next step for the communities we’ve built around both podcasts. In this age, just about everyone in ministry is engaged in the digital parish to a degree — it’s not just a space for specialists. Through the next expression of the ‘MyCom Church Marketing’ podcast, it will be exciting to explore how church leaders and communicators, whether staff or volunteer, can expand in outreach, communications, social media and new technologies.”
In addition to the “MyCom" podcast, Dunn manages the digital presence of the Rethink Church brand, which speaks to seekers and those new to The UMC, writes for UMC.org and hosts and produces the “Compass” podcast. He is an ordained deacon in The United Methodist Church and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his family.
“I’m obsessed with finding ways to offer new expressions of grace," he said. "I love my job because it reminds me daily that a better world is both possible and imminent.”
