Wespath

Wespath

Wespath’s name honors John Wesley and reflects our agency’s commitment to providing participants and institutional clients with a reliable path toward their retirement, well-being and investment goals. Wespath has been serving the UMC and predecessor Methodist denominations since 1908. Our mission is to care for those who serve by providing investment and benefit services that honor the mission and principles of the UMC. We serve more than 100,000 active and retired clergy and lay employees through retirement, health and well-being, disability and death benefit plans, including nearly 3,700 retired clergy and families in the Central Conferences. Wespath also provides comprehensive investment solutions for over 150 faith-based institutional investors, such as Methodist foundations, endowments and children’s homes.

As a fiduciary, Wespath is guided by The Book of Discipline ¶1504 to invest in ways that maximize investment returns for the people and organizations whom we serve. Wespath invests in a sustainable manner that seeks to create long-term value for participants and institutional clients, while also upholding UMC values and striving to make a positive influence in the world. Since 1990, the Positive Social Purpose Lending Program has invested more than $2.1 billion and earned a market-rate of return through investments in affordable housing and community development.
