About The General Commission on Archives and History

An original letter from Methodism’s founder John Wesley to British abolitionist Wilbur Wilberforce is one of the treasures preserved in the vaults of the General Commission on Archives and History. The agency, housed at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, serves scholars and church members alike with materials on the history of The United Methodist Church and its antecedents, assists local churches and annual conferences with collecting, preserving and celebrating their history. It is also a sponsor of the Wesley Pilgrimage in England, a leader formation experience.
