Conversation Models

Courageous Conversations (Discipleship Ministries)

Courageous Conversations offer learning through dialogue in community. The process encourages adults to question their own assumptions and those of others. This outline offers ideas and resources for conducting a Courageous Conversation about the Way Forward proposals. A downloadable pamphlet provides more information about the model.

At Table — United Methodists Seeking a Way Forward (Turner Center for Church Leadership)

This model for conversations in congregations is based on events in the Memphis and Tennessee Conferences. Downloadable PDFs provide an annotated schedule and an outline of the actual event.

When the Going Gets Rough — Rituals for Difficult Conversations (Marcia McFee)

Worship is the setting for conversations first conducted in the Pacific Northwest Episcopal Area. The conversations take place within celebrations of Holy Communion or a love feast.

Graceful Conversations (Greater New Jersey Conference)

These conversations were conducted as the conference gathered information to submit to the Commission on a Way Forward. The models for worship and a workshop are adaptable for on-going conversations.
