Giving Tuesday with Church and Society

GBCS 2025 Interns

Today is Giving Tuesday—a day when people around the world invest in causes that matter. Our goal is to raise $20,000 before midnight to sustain the mission and ministry of Church and Society. Your generosity doesn’t just fund programs, it forms people. Because lasting justice and peace begin not with statements or policies, but with disciples who are shaped, educated, and grounded in their faith.

This is why we invest in young leaders. One of them is Tafadzwa, a participant in our 2025 Ethnic Young Adult (EYA) Internship program. Through his time with Church and Society, he explored how United Methodist social teachings speak to injustice in his home country of Zimbabwe. That experience helped shape his calling—and today, he continues using his voice within the Church to inform, educate, and inspire faithful action.

“I came into this internship eager to learn but I didn’t expect to be changed from the inside out. I’ve grown intellectually, through the books we read and the critical discussions we’ve had. But more than that, I’ve grown spiritually and emotionally. I’ve learned how to hold space for pain without rushing to fix it. I’ve learned that justice work starts with deep listening and reflection.”

– Tafadzwa Chikawa, 2025 EYA Intern

This is what your gift makes possible: creating opportunities where young people learn how faith and justice meet. Advocacy doesn’t begin on Capitol Hill. It begins in the hearts of people who are equipped, encouraged, and sent.

Will you contribute $25, $50, $100 or more now to help Church and Society equip more leaders like Tafadzwa?

In hope,

Bishop Julius C. Trimble

P.S. Reaching our goal is possible if we do it together. Just 200 people giving $100 would get us there, but every gift moves us closer. Thank you for being part of this work.
