Media Credentialing for 2004 General Conference

April 27-May 7, nearly 1,000 delegates from the United States and numerous countries where The United Methodist Church is engaged in mission will gather in Pittsburgh for the denomination’s quadrennial General Conference.

The General Conference is the 10-million member denomination’s top legislative body. Members of General Conference will consider more than 1,400 legislative proposals during an 11-day period. The result of their work will be updated versions of the denomination’s book of church law, The Book of Discipline, and the Book of Resolutions, reflecting United Methodist positions on hundreds of issues.

Media representatives are invited to cover this historic event. General Conference plans include a fully staffed newsroom for news media operations, media seating on the main plenary floor, numerous news media briefings from delegates who will be making news and a special Web site for General Conference news.
