United Methodist Men Welcome

The General Commission on United Methodist Men exists for one purpose: to help the church reach men and boys with the transforming power of the gospel — and to release those men and boys to serve the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

In this welcome video, the Rev. Dr. Rick Vance, general secretary for the United Methodist Men, shares more about the vision of United Methodist Men.

Friends, I'm Rick Vance, general secretary of the General Commission on United Methodist Men. It's a joy to greet you as we continue the sacred work of helping men grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. When I look at United Methodist Men today, I see more than an organization. I see a movement, a movement of men who are learning to live their faith with courage, compassion, and conviction. Our goals as United Methodist Men are simple but powerful. They define who we are and what we're called to do.

First, we equip men to grow spiritually, to strengthen their walk with Christ through prayer, scripture, and accountability. When men grow in faith, families are renewed, churches thrive, and communities are changed.

Second, we connect men in fellowship and purpose. We remind one another that faith is not a solo journey. across generations and cultures. We form a worldwide brotherhood rooted in grace and in relationship.

Third, we serve others with compassion and joy. We don't serve out of duty. We serve because Christ first served us. Whether mentoring a young man, supporting scouting, or meeting a neighbor's need, joyful service reveals Christ's love to the world.

Fourth, we reach the next generation. Younger men are searching for meaning and belonging. We must invite them, walk beside them, and show them that faith is alive, authentic, and transforming.

Fifth, we strengthen our global connection. From vibrant ministries in the US to vibrant ministries in the Philippines, Africa, and beyond, men are leading, serving, and praying together as one body in Christ.

And finally, we practice faithful stewardship. Everything we have, time, talent, our treasure is a gift from God, meant to be used for God's glory and for the growth of God's kingdom.

These goals find their center in three simple calls. To love boldly, to serve joyfully, and to lead courageously. Bold love crosses boundaries. Joyful service turns work into worship. Courageous leadership trusts God's strength more than our own.

Friends, God is doing something new through United Methodist Men. Together, let's live these goals with passion and purpose as men who love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously for the sake of Jesus Christ.
