Everyone enjoys going to the movies and there's a great selection to choose from this summer. Movie watching can be a great activity for Sunday school classes and small groups to do together, and not just as a fun bonding experience. Movies can be an excellent topic for group discussion as many of them (without being overtly religious) contain themes or allusions to the Bible or one's Christian faith. Rev. Joe Iovino at United Methodist Communications has picked out five films being released this summer and shown how Christians might connect the film stories to scripture and Christian tradition (Aladdin, Toy Story 4, Yesterday, The Lion King, and Men in Black: International). Read Joe's piece here.
