Status and Role of Women
The General Commission on the Status and Role of Women advocates for full participation of women in the total life of The United Methodist Church. We’re helping the church recognize every person – clergy and lay, women and men, adults and children - as full and equal parts of God’s human family. We believe that a fully engaged and empowered membership is vital to The United Methodist Church’s mission "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

Fall is the herald of change. It signals that things will not always be as they currently are. For some, this brings hope and joy. For others, it brings the harsh reality of losing what is.
While excellent music and preaching are important, they aren’t what make me feel like I belong. What matters most is the presence of laypeople—those who show up, serve joyfully, and create an atmosphere of love and inclusion.
This Domestic Violence Awareness Month and always, let’s be real about love. Let’s make love real, the kind of love that is protective and strong, a true shield against abuse.
