Last week we posted a link to a commentary by Jeremiah Gibbs on how women pastors are held to different standards than their male counterparts. This week we want to send you to another excellent piece he wrote, this one on why ordaining women shouldn't be optional. Jeremiah is ordained by the Assemblies of God, which has been ordaining women for nearly 100 years but still gives individual congregations the option of not supporting it. His wife, Jenifer Stuelpe Gibbs, is a UMC pastor.
"I no longer think this is a matter on which we can just disagree," he writes. "I’m now convinced that churches that deny women a place at all levels of leadership are outside of the will of God."
Take a look; you'll be glad!
