The Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage was formed to actively collect and preserve Queer Methodist history.

Our mission

The Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage promotes, preserves and protects the experiences, ministries, contributions and sacrifices of LGBTQ+ people so that The UMC tells a more complete story of our heritage to inform our future as an inclusive denomination.

"Sacred Stories: Ministries of LGBTQ+ United Methodists" is the theme of Heritage Sunday 2025. Local congregations are encouraged to celebrate stories from the LGBTQ+ community.
