Constitutional amendments from 2020/24 General Conference

Ratified Amendments

The 2024 General Conference passed several proposed amendments to United Methodist Constitution. These unique pieces of legislation became offficial on November 5, 2025 after being ratified by a two-thirds affirmative vote of the aggregate of members to the annual conferences. In 2024 the United Methodist General Conference passed new amendments to the constitution that address important issues about the future of the denomination and the need for the church to better embody principles of justice, inclusion and contextualized connectionalism.
