As our church continues to grapple with what it means to be a church in mission with all people, crossing boundaries of gender, race, immigration status, sexual orientation, age, ability, culture and ideology, the Connectional Table seeks to listen and engage these conversations. As our church continues to grapple with what it means to be a church in mission with all people, crossing boundaries of gender, race, immigration status, sexual orientation, age, ability, culture and ideology, the Connectional Table seeks to listen and engage these conversations. Our project Emerging is an outgrowth of our listening and an effort to continue the conversation about what God is doing new.

The Emerging project seeks to provide a forum through an open-ended online conversation about what is emerging in United Methodism.

Through this resource, the Connectional Table seeks to forge a compelling consensus shared by a vast global community of “think and let think” disciples of Jesus Christ, affirming and claiming Methodism’s essential convictions about what to teach, how to teach, who we are, and how—by the grace of God—United Methodists strive to live and be in ministry together.

Don’t remember the prior things;
   don’t ponder ancient history.
Look! I’m doing a new thing;
   now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it?
I’m making a way in the desert,
   paths in the wilderness.
—Isaiah 43:18-19, Common English Bible
