2022 State of the Church Report
Reclaim our identity
Revive our mission
Renew our vision
In a time of both division and uncertainty, we United Methodists remain committed in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This report highlights the ways we seek to reclaim our identity as United Methodists in the Wesleyan tradition, revive our mission and ministries as a global church, and look beyond this current season toward a renewed vision of a future UMC that is more just, more inclusive, more connectional and more engaged.
In the past year, we, the people of The United Methodist Church, have dug deeper into our Wesleyan roots and reclaimed who we are as “the people called Methodists.”
Reclaiming our identity as United Methodists calls us to faithfully interpret our historic values and priorities to guide us in the present and into our future.
The United Methodist Church continues to strive, “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” We do that through reviving our passion for missions and ministries.
We stand on the verge of a new season in the continuing United Methodist Church. We are called to step into the work God is already doing in us and through us. By our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, we can continue the vital ministries we have already begun and attune ourselves to the new things God is doing.
