For 34 years, THE FLYER was the official voice of the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women. As often as monthly or as rarely as three times a year, THE FLYER covered The United Methodist Church's often turbulent journey toward the full inclusion of women at all levels of church life.
Like its butterfly symbol, THE FLYER changed as it grew, from a word-heavy black-and-white newsletter to a colorful quarterly communication to (in 2010) a digital-only offering. Copies of every issue in this treasure trove of history are accessible below (in pdf format).
Late in 2012, GCSRW decided to discontinue THE FLYER and instead focus on expanding the agency's two websites (gcsrw.org and umsexualethics.org) and on its use of social media.
